Frequently Asked Questions

What can I expect from SASS?

Personalized care and attention, on-time pickup from your desired location and arrival to your appointment. A Companion who stays by your side, is present and attentive. We’ll be in the waiting room and ready to take you home — no waiting for a flaky family member, questionable rideshare, or unreliable dispatch transport company to show up.

Do your discharge instructions include a prescription pickup or a stop for recovery provisions? SASS has got you!

For what kind of appointments can I book a SASS Companion?

…just about anything.

Can I choose which Companion

will accompany me?

That option is coming soon! Right now SASS is small but our growth plan includes a diverse, multi-lingual, multi-cultural staff.

For now, if you need an accommodation, please use the “What else should we know?” field on the intake form we send after we confirm booking. Companions are trained in cultural awareness and sensitivity, and want you to feel comfortable and relaxed so you can focus on your health and well-being.

Can I pay with my FSA / HSA?

Yes! If your appointment or procedure is covered by insurance or is FSA/HSA eligible, SASS services count as transportation costs.

At this time, we are not able to process payments using your FSA or HSA card, but our detailed receipt can be submitted to your FSA/HSA for reimbursement.

Can I put my Companion as my

emergency contact?

Yes! If your clinic or surgery center asks who to contact in case of an emergency during the appointment we are accompanying you, and you don’t have anyone else you would like to list, please do list your Companion and SASS’s phone number.

When you book us, we’ll ask for an emergency contact for events unrelated to your appointment. We do require a contact, but will allow you to determine what information is shared with that individual in the rare case we need to be in touch.
